Serial Planes

The goal of this project was to create negative/positive spaces using foam core board. For my project I decided to make a bird. After going through the research and pictures I had found I thought a bird would be the most unique and more could be done with it in terms of variety in the negative/positive spaces. Going through the process of making the bird out of foam core I used texture on the wings and on the body itself as well as layering to create the look of feathers.
After the critique I found that the way I did the project I created more of a geometric bird rather than a realistic one. I intended to go for the realistic looking bird but with the foam core it was difficult to get the shapes and curves I wanted. I do however believe that if i had more time I could make it look very realistic but Id have to start completely over to do that. I'm happy with my project but at the same time I'd rather it look more realistic than geometric. I preferred this project over the book project because working with the foam core board was easier and more could be done with it in terms of peeling back the layers of the foam core, also, the book pages were so fragile and not sturdy that it made it hard to do much of anything with it.
